The arm and head options for Sharpe

Fans of a certain type of Britishness can rejoice as Wargames Atlantic, one of the best producers of historic plastic miniatures on the planet, will be doing a miniature range AND game for Sharpe’s Rifles.

Sharpe’s Rifles is a hugely popular (among wargaming circles, at least) show based on historical novels by Bernard Cornwell, which also tend to be rather popular with wargamers. The show starred Sean Bean as the titular character, leading his men through all manner of danger in the early 1800s.

The range starts with Sharpe himself, with two variants of a 28mm sculpt and a display piece 54mm sculpt that comes with a scenic base as well. It’s a very neat idea, and the sculpting has been done by the hugely talented Bill Thornhill of Lost Heresy Miniatures.

Wargames Atlantic will be following the Sharpe box with similar frames for Harper, Riflemen Harris, and other characters from Sharpe’s Rifles. The promotional pieces were painted by Chris Hindmarsh.

Andy Hobday will be working on the rules for the game, a familiar name to many for his work on Mortal Gods, Gangs of Rome, Test of Honor, and The Baron’s War.

Pre-orders for the miniature set are open now at the Wargame’s Atlantic site, and will release on September 4, 2025.

Disclaimer: I chat with Bill Thornhill from time to time, but had no idea this project was being worked on.

Aidan started in the hobby all the way back in 1989 with Hero Quest, quickly getting into Space Crusade, and then on into second edition Warhammer 40,000. Over the years he has played just about everything you can think of, but current favorite are Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone, Horus Heresy, Trench Crusade, and Dungeons and Dragons.
