Trench Pilgrims and Heretics do battle in Trench Crusade

Trench Crusade has been setting the wargaming world on fire, wracking up over three million dollars on Kickstarter and over five million dollars by the end of its crowdfunding run. The brainchild of concept artist Mike Franchina, it just seemed to land perfectly with a curious audience.

Since closing the campaign, the Trench Crusade crew has been hard at work delivering the files and models that people have paid for and always working away on the rulebook, which was due in June. Sadly, the team had to announce a delay in a recent update on their Kickstarter page.

We’ll get straight to the point here: the book is going to be late. We originally planned for it to deliver late next month but now we expect it to be August and possibly slipping into September for the tail end of things. The reason? It simply needs a bit more time. We’re currently in the final stages but don’t want to rush things. Disappointing news, we know. We’re not happy about it either BUT there are good reasons for the delay. The pagecount, originally planned to be around 210 pages on the KS page, is now pushing 300. Given the success of the campaign we allowed oursrlves some extra leeway in terms of both art and lore… Ok, it was a lot more leeway actually. We’re talking about much more art as well as lots of expanded lore.

Currently, they are expecting the rulebook for the game to arrive in August or maybe even start making its way out to eager supporters in September. Don’t forget that you can currently download full rules for the game, completely for free, from the Trench Crusade website.

While it’s not a tremendous delay, it certainly seems like it will be worth it, especially for collectors of rulebooks who are really looking forward to a quality product. The team also included some mock-ups of what you can expect from the book, although they were careful to say that such things are subject to change.

Aidan started in the hobby all the way back in 1989 with Hero Quest, quickly getting into Space Crusade, and then on into second edition Warhammer 40,000. Over the years he has played just about everything you can think of, but current favorite are Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone, Horus Heresy, Trench Crusade, and Dungeons and Dragons.
