SCP The Boardgame: Confidential Crisis was supposed to start their Gamefound campaign soon, but after some pressure from potential backers, they have opted to delay the campaign by two months while they send review copies out to YouTubers.

After multiple comments mentioning quality issues on the campaign page, an overt focus on miniatures over gameplay mechanics, and highlight that the lack of potential previews or reviews before starting the crowdfunding was just weird, developer DigDeep_Gaming has relented, granting a two month window to get copies out to people who can review the product. They have also promised to get a professional translator in to work on game cards and rule books.

To be frank, I am totally undecided on this campaign, and everything about it is screaming at me to just steer clear. A search for any other product by DigDeep_Gaming yields nothing, and their own official social media account contains no trace of other games they might have made. This is because it would seem that they have been trying to get this game off the ground for quite a while now.

The game was initially a Kickstarter campaign four years ago, with that campaign looking for HK$10,000, or just over $1200 USD, which is not a serious amount of money when it comes to trying to produce a product like this. They also got some heat over the lack of preview/review copies last time, but seem to have made the same mistake again.

This one will be worth watching just to see how it plays out. Will DigDeep_Gaming come good with a solid title, or become another Broken Anvil or Mythic Games? Time will tell.

Aidan started in the hobby all the way back in 1989 with Hero Quest, quickly getting into Space Crusade, and then on into second edition Warhammer 40,000. Over the years he has played just about everything you can think of, but current favorite are Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone, Horus Heresy, Trench Crusade, and Dungeons and Dragons.
