While skulking around the internet and planning where to next spend all my time and money, I stumbled across a very interesting-looking card game. Cyberpunk Legends, the first game from Night Crew Games, is a cooperative card game, specifically designed for fun campaign play.
Per the official blurb, “Cyberpunk Legends is a strategic sci-fi story-driven card game that throws you into a world of chrome, code, and consequences. Experience exciting cooperative RPG-like gameplay with a pulse-pounding narrative, anywhere you want.”
I am always on the lookout for fun, coop card games, and with my wife also being a huge fan of Cyberpunk, I predict this one will get a lot of play in our house. The game has nothing to do with CD Projekt Red’s version of Cyberpunk 2077, for anyone wondering. This is strictly a classic Cyberpunk thing, which makes me even more excited for it.
That is not to say that 2077 is bad, by any means, but the whole reason it’s good is that Night City is such an interesting playground for talented devs to play in, so let’s see what happens when Night Crew Games jump in to have their own flavor of fun, eh chooms?
The most attractive part of the game for me is that it promises to be light on rules, with no need for pre-writing character sheets, and no dice. It’s just you and the cards. Nice Crew Games are promising that you’ll be up and running in five minutes, but let’s see if that applies to those of us who have taken considerable damage to our brains from years of netrunning.
