Black Site Studios is what I would call a “boutique” game company. I am sure they would run a mile from that label, but I feel it suits a company that puts out very high-quality products, smartly designed and with the price tag to match.
Having swerved crowdfunding platforms for some time, preferring to operate from the Backroom section of their own site, they recently had some successful forays into the crowdfunding pools with Avalon Rising on Kickstarter, and now We Played God on Gamefound.
We Played God has done especially well for itself, hitting its funding target a mere 10 minutes after launching and sitting at a cool 522% funded at the time of writing. The game could be best classed as a form of legally distinct Jurassic Park, and it looks fantastic. As always, the folks at Black Site Studios have given it their typical treatment with lovely sculpts, a rule book, dedicated terrain options, and no doubt future support to boot.
I have purchased Demonship and Mobile Arms from them and have never been let down, although this time, I plan to take advantage of the available digital tiers to get those sweet, sweet STLs.
We Played God is a solo / coop, tabletop miniatures game set in a near future where dinosaurs have been genetically reconstructed. Eden was intended to be a scientific haven for the observation and study of prehistoric creatures, but it becomes a nightmare when the facility goes dark, and the fences begin to fail. Sneak, run, hide, and fight your way through an intense narrative campaign where you must survive against all odds. Collect supplies, recruit survivors, and work your way through Eden’s hidden secrets in a desperate attempt to escape the island.
